The Research Paper

MLA:

Students will learn about research methods using MLA Style. The following websites will assist students with MLA formatting and checking their writing for plagiarism:

MLA Formatting and Style Guide - Purdue Owl

MLA Style Center - Modern Language Association

Plagiarism Checker

MLA format is required on ALL papers. Students are responsible for making sure they do not plagiarize. Copy and paste without proper documentation will not be accepted.

We will cover proper MLA format the second week of school.

Plagiarism: Don’t Do It

plagiarismPlagiarism is the practice of copying words, sentences, images, or ideas for use in written or oral assessments without giving proper credit to the source. Students may not share work or steal writing from published authors. When outside sources are used in writing - even on homework - students MUST document the source.

Projects/ Papers:

Over the course of the school year, students will complete four research projects. Two projects will be small research assignments, and two projects will be major research papers. Topics for these research projects will vary according to the unit of study in class.
